Aretired senior health bureaucrat is continuing to urge Wattle Range Mayor Des Noll to have a face to face meeting with Health Minister Chris Picton regarding local health issues.
David Walshaw was formerly the Lower South East Health Director and was elected to Wattle Range Council almost two years ago.
He has repeatedly called for a ministerial meeting as recently as the August monthly council meeting.
Mayor Noll explained a meeting with Minister Picton has been scheduled when he visited Mount Gambier and Naracoorte in early August but was cancelled.
Cr Walshaw said the matter of a loss of various services had been raised earlier in the August meeting by Cr John Drew.
According to Cr Walshaw, matters such as the recruitment of medical staff and the possible return of Medical Clinic Millicent doctors to the local hospital were matters which should be brought to the attention of Minister Picton.
Cr Walshaw repeated a consversation he had with a local resident who wished to remain anonymous.
They were happy to bring their personal circumstances to the attention of Wattle Range Council via Cr Walshaw.
The resident told Cr Walshaw of what they considered was an unsatisfactory level of care recently provided to them at a local hospital following a medical episode.
In response, Mayor Noll said this situation as described by Cr Walshaw was unacceptable and he would be making further inquiries.
