Millicent has the hottest housing market in regional South Australia due to a 20% surge in its median price in the past 12 months.
It has soared from $287,000 to a record $345,000 in the September quarter.
Just over a decade ago, the median housing price in Millicent sat just above $120,000.
The latest industry data from PropTrack and published in the city press shows the South East had four of the 10 best-performing regional towns.
Penola came in fourth place for median price growth among regional towns in the past year.
Penola prices have jumped 15% from $308,000 to $355,000 between September 2022 and September 2023.
Bordertown also achieved a median price rise of 15% with an upwards movement from $236,000 to $272,000.
Naracoorte rounded out the top 10 in the regional housing rankings with a 12% rise from $310,000 to $348,000.
Meanwhile, prices steadily climbed in the past year at other population centres in the region.
Robe experienced a 11% rise from $528,000 to $587,000 and the figure was helped by a number of sales in the seven figures.
Mount Gambier’s median house price rose 7% from $386,000 to $412,000,
The median price for home units in Mount Gambier rose almost 13% from $270,000 to $304,000.
