MBCA roles now up for grabs

The Millicent Business Community Association is facing another leadership dilemma with joint chairpersons Fiona Telfer and Mark Braes recently writing to its 100 members and seeking nominations for the committee.

Their letter is timely as the annual general meeting is only a few weeks away on July 5.

The MBCA overcame similar difficulties a year ago when there was an initial dearth of nominations to fill all offices.

Ms Telfer and Mr Braes said a quorum was needed to allow the annual general meeting on July 5 to proceed.

“We find ourselves in dire need of new members to ensure the committee remains active,” they said.

“Without a sufficient number of members, we may be compelled to suspend the committee’s operations.

“Over the years, the MBCA committee has played a crucial role in fostering the growth and advancement of our business community.

“Together, we have achieved significant milestones.

“However, our current committee membership has declined and we are in urgent need of assistance to sustain the committee.”

According to Ms Telfer and Mr Braes, new MBCA committee members will have opportunities to contribute their ideas and expertise, connect with like-minded individuals and make a tangible impact on the future of business in Millicent.

They said the MBCA committee meets regularly to address issues and organise events.

“Even a modest investment of time and energy can create a substantial difference,” they said.

Other office-holders of the MBCA are Lisa Braes (secretary) and Jo Dean (treasurer).

The other MBCA members who were elected to the committee last September were Lee Morgan, Amy Faulkner, Melissa Armfield, Caroline Hammat and Chris Ellery.
