Next gen technology arrives

Telstra 5G coverage is now available in Millicent, Meningie, Keith and Tailem Bend with Telstra recently switching on 5G services as part of a national rollout of the next generation of mobile technology.

Equipment had been upgraded by Telstra contractors in June at the SA Water concrete tower near Millicent Hospital.

Telstra’s SA regional general manager Mark Bolton, pictured left, said local users would have access to an improved service.

“It’s really exciting to roll out 5G connectivity for the first time in these locations, meaning customers with Telstra 5G mobile devices can now enjoy a better mobile experience,” he said.

Mr Bolton said the 5G upgrades also brought added benefits for customers on the Telstra 4G network.

As part of installing 5G, Telstra has upgraded capacity on the existing 4G network, which means better connectivity and less congestion on the Telstra mobile network in these places when it’s busier.

“We’re continuing to expand our 5G network across South Australia and nationally we’re adding new sites to the network every week,” Mr Bolton said

“Upgrades such as these continue to demonstrate Telstra’s ongoing commitment to regional Australia.”

Other Telstra 5G enabled communities in near proximity to these sites include Murray Bridge, Kingston, Bordertown, Naracoorte, Pinnaroo, Robe, Mt Gambier and Port MacDonnell.

“For customers wishing to access 5G on the Telstra network, they will need a 5G capable device and have a Telstra 5G phone plan, so for some people, that may mean upgrading their current device,” Mr Bolton said.
