Asenior at a local high school has celebrated the end of her schooling with an exciting art exhibition conveying to the community a message of thanks, appreciation and hope.

Tenison Woods College Year 12 graduating Populars student Amaya Gamage’s graphic art animal themed display titled “Thankyou Exhibition” has been on display in the school’s front office and mall area for over three weeks.

Miss Gamage is a young budding artist who decided to bring her art from paper to digital media and explore her talents in graphic design during her time at Tenison Woods College.

Miss Gamage said while she started drawing as a youngster, it was only recently that she pursued graphic design as a method of relaxation and a way of expressing her creativity.

“I wanted to inspire others like me and those who would like to pursue art,” she said.

“Animals were always my source of inspiration and I hoped that others could find comfort in them like I do.

“I always had a special bond with animals and they have always been my muse since I learnt to draw.

“I believe it shows the beauty and diversity of the animal kingdom and it creates a personal and meaningful resonance with people.”

Miss Gamage said she enjoyed sharing her art with the community through exhibitions.

“My very first solo exhibition was held at the Mount Gambier Main Corner Complex where I also published my first graphic art book in 2019,” she said.

“Some of my artwork is currently available for viewing at the Millicent Library and Gallery (Wattle Range Council open art awards) until the 13th of January 2024 for everyone to see.

“I will be doing another solo exhibition at the Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre and the Mount Gambier Library in April 2024.

“I will also be featuring my artwork at the creative art for health project at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital from September 2024 to February 2025.”
