Amelia Ballantyne achieved the highest Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking score at Millicent High School in 2022 after the year 12 SACE results were announced on Monday morning.
It has been a remarkable 12 months for Amelia as she has combined her school studies with being joint MHS school captain with Faith McKenzie.
She has been congratulated by University of South Australia regional manager Ian McKay and his organisation provides cash prizes to the region’s leading year 12 students each year.
After adjustments, Amelia received a final ATAR score of 97.6
Her success prompted an outpouring on social media of congratulations from her fellow students and MHS staff.
“This is absolutely incredible work Amelia and you should be so proud of all your efforts,” one teacher said.
“You are a pleasure to teach and you are a determined and driven young woman who will go on to do some amazing things.”
It is the third consecutive year that a Mount Burr netballer has achieved the highest ATAR at the school.
Ava Smith-Muhovics claimed the honour in 2020 while Jemma Hayward was placed first last year.
