Seminarian to be ordained

Adelaide Catholic Archbishop Dr Patrick O’Regan has announced the date for the Diaconal ordination of Mount Gambier/Millicent seminarian James Thomson.

He will be ordained a deacon at 10am on September 3 in St Francis Xavier Cathedral in Adelaide.

As part of his training for the priesthood, Mr Thomson had been studying at Boston in the USA.

Mount Gambier/Millicent assistant priest Father Olek Stirrat is asking for the support of the Catholic parishioners.

“I encourage everyone who is able to, to attend James’ ordination to pray and support him,” Father Olek said.

“James has tirelessly served us, both spiritually and pastorally with his involvement in the parish.

“From leading sessions with Little Lambs, to helping out the men’s gardening group on a Monday afternoon, James has participated in the full gamut of activities and pastoral initiatives.

“We thank James for his service and ministry.”
