Street Machines enjoy Sunset drive

The South East Street Machines Club recently donated $1000 to the Sunset Community Kitchen in Mount Gambier.

Sunset Community Kitchen president Maree Thompson said the money would be used to help Sunset Kitchen continue to cook and supply take away meals on Monday and Wednesday evenings between 6pm and 6.30pm at the Frew Park kitchen.

“We have had a great start to our year with a kind donation of $1000 from South East Street Machines,” Ms Thompson said.

“It will help to cover increasing costs of purchasing ingredients and products, take away containers and utensils as well as contributing towards power and gas charges.

“We are looking forward to kicking our new year off soon with the return of our fantastic volunteers into the kitchen to prep, cook and distribute the meals.”

The South East Street Machines Club runs an annual Show n Shine and as they are a not-for-profit club, they donate their excess funds after the event to local charities or groups.

The club usually donates around $500 to several organisations, however because they did not use their full budget last year due to COVID, they decided to give $1000 to six organisations this time.

“Sunset Community Kitchen is funded by donations and fund raising, and we are very grateful to South East Street Machines for this generous donation,” Ms Thompson said.
