Structure fire at Coomandook

At just after 7:30 this morning CFS crews were alerted to a house fire on Flowery Plain Road at Coomandook.

20 firefighters on three trucks and a bulk water carrier were sent to the property which was well involved in flames upon arrival.

The residents had managed to escape unharmed.

The historic home was completely destroyed in the blaze, however crews did manage to save nearby assets and structures including a shed.

They also stopped the fire from spreading into grass and nearby farmland, which given the current weather conditions was an important save for the community.

Damages are estimated at approximately $200,000. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
