Young artists draw attention to talent

It’s time for local youth to put their creative skills on show, with entries opening soon for an annual art competition.

The Glenelg Shire Council’s Youthfest Art Competition and Exhibition, Draw Attention, is open for submissions until September 1.

The competition invites community members between the ages of 12-25 to enter with artwork in any medium that draws attention to something about themselves that makes them proud.

The competition has been a recent tradition on the Glenelg Shire Youth team’s calendar of events, with entries to be put on display as part of an official exhibition in September at the Glenelg Libraries.

Artists this year will also have the option to place their artworks up for sale due to the community interest from previous exhibitions.

There are three $200 Visa gift vouchers on offer for winners, which will be split across the categories of 12-16 years, 17-25 years category and overall Judges Choice.

“Entries are only open for a few weeks so make sure you get in quick and create something that draws attention to you,” Glenelg Shire Youth Development Officer Maddy McKinna said.

Entrants can submit their artwork for the Draw Attention competition via their local Glenelg Libraries branch until September 1.
