Accused remains in custody over stabbing

The local man accused of an alleged stabbing at Millicent last October remains in custody.

The 28-year-old Millicent man has been detained at the James Nash House secure psychiatric facility in Adelaide since he was arrested by police on the day of the alleged stabbing.

He appeared via video link in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court last week.

Magistrate Koula Kossiavelos ordered the man remain at James Nash House and reappear in court in July.

Emergency services had been called to business premises in George Street on October 14 after hearing reports that a man had been stabbed.

Police located the alleged victim, a 24-year-old local man, with a stab wound to the abdomen.

He was taken by the SA Ambulance Service to the Mount Gambier Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
