Crows fly south for summer

Limestone Coast AFL supporters are in for a treat next week as the Adelaide Crows’ entire playing list visits Robe for a training camp.

The two-day camp will be led by captain and All-Australian Jordan Dawson who is taking the team to his home town.

The visit will combine training with team building exercises and a game of cricket.

On Wednesday, January 24 from 9.30am to 11am there will be an open training session at the Robe Football Club, O’Halloran Street, Robe.

Afterwards, fans will have the chance to meet the players, participate in giveaways and have photos with their favourite players.

Crows players from the South East include Jordan Dawson (Robe), Darcy Fogarty (Lucindale), Luke Pedlar (Kingston) and Mitch Hinge (Mundulla).

The newly married Dawson said he was looking forward to heading home.

“It’s a privilege to go home and I’m really passionate about showing the boys where I’m from,” Dawson said.

“It’s also a good opportunity for us to get away as a group and bond just before the season with a few team activities.

“It will be a full-circle moment for me being able to go to Robe as a club and reminisce on the times I was playing footy on the oval where we are going to train which is pretty cool.

“To have a training session where kids can come and watch and know that it is possible to play AFL from that area is great – and likewise with Hingey, Fog and Pedlar who are from the South East as well which is really special.”
