Millicent’s largest garage sale of 2023 recently provided a welcome boost to the coffers of the Millicent Craft Group.
Eager bargain hunters poured over the hundreds of items on offer at Millicent RSL War Memorial Hall.
It was the third consecutive year the Millicent Craft Group has staged such a bargain market.
There were 13 stalls ranging from books and bric-a-brac to clothing, plants and jewellery.
Among the more unusual items was an industrial vacuum cleaner while brand-new DVDs sold for only $1.
Millicent community radio station 5 THE-FM donated a large number of surplus vinyl LP records.
Most, in turn, were purchased by one customer who will use them as backing for clocks.
The August 19 date was chosen as it was a home game for the Millicent Football Netball Club and also it avoided a clash with the fortnightly markets at the Millicent Showgrounds,
The leftover items will be donated to the Salvation Army to be sold at its Millicent thrift shop.
Funds raised by the sale will go towards the extension to the Millicent Craft Group base in the community hub in Fifth Street.
The other major fundraiser for the group this year will be an “Open Garden” in November at the Worrolong property of member Maria Seiler.
It measures around a hectare and is full of collectable and reclaimed items.
