The cost of upgrading the Millicent Swimming Lake with new pipes and a concrete base may be well in advance of preliminary estimates.
Wattle Range Council chief executive Ben Gower told The SE Voice that his staff are still working closely with the aquatic engineers on some specific design issues.
“They may have significant cost implications,” Mr Gower said.
“We will provide further updates to the community as soon as we can.”
Council’s program manager Craig Turner said in his monthly report that detailed design drawings are completed.
He said a quantity surveyor has provided a secondary review estimate.
“Council staff will now undertake a detailed review of the proposed cost analysis with the aim to provide council with options for consideration on the best and most cost-effective approach at the May Council meeting,” he said.
The lake was closed and emptied a few weeks ago as part of the customary off-season program.
