Wave of station support

Record numbers have nominated to take part in the first major fundraiser for the revived Millicent community radio station 5THE-FM.

After an absence of around a decade, 5THE-FM is again presenting a Spicks and Specks themed Quiz Night on September 29 with 250 tickets already sold.

The quiz night was originally scheduled for the clubrooms of the Millicent United Soccer Club at McLaughlin Park where such past functions have been held.

However, due to the overwhelming demand for tickets, it has been moved to the larger Millicent War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre with local musician Jack Lane continuing as the host.

5THE-FM board of management chairman David Walshaw said support was coming in other ways.

“There is a large number of local businesses who are donating goods and prizes on the night,” Mr Walshaw said.

“We are very grateful for their support.”

The pre-sale entry cost is only $10 and a charge of $15 will be made on the night.

Table bookings can be made at the station.

Successful quiz nights have been staged in 2023 by the Hatherigh Football Club, Wattle Range Suicide Prevention Network and Mary MacKillop Memorial School at Penola.
